The Williamson County Municipal Utility District No. 12 will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2023 on September 7, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Amenity Center located at 404 Via De Sienna Boulevard, Georgetown, Texas 78628. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the tax rate that is adopted and on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property. The change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property determines the distribution of the tax burden among all property owners. Residents of the Rancho Sienna community appealed the City of Leander's water and sewer rates to the Public Utility Commission of Texas in January 2022. The appeal challenges the City's water and sewer rates adopted in October 2021. The attorneys and experts retained by Williamson County MUD No. 12's Board of Directors to represent the residents are reviewing the written testimony and evidence filed by the City to support the City's rates. Written testimony and evidence showing that the City's rates are too high will be filed in early April 2023. Once that testimony is filed, the staff of the Commission will review all the testimony and evidence and present their recommendation to the Administrative Law Judge handling the case. A hearing will be held in late September 2023 before the Judge. We expect the Judge to present a recommendation for action to the Public Utility Commission in late 2023 or early 2024.
